WOMEN'S DAY OF FELLOWSHIP

29th November 2018

The Venue was The Bible Centre in Renfrewshire near Paisley which is just 5 minutes from Glasgow Airport. A beautiful venue for spending a day together with other women from the Scottish Mission in a day of fellowship. The even this year was attended by 65 ladies and 5 children and one Scottish Mission President as Pastor Paul Tompkins joined the ladies in the afternoon.

Pastor Ivana Mendez was the guest speaker and blessed everyone with an inspiring message, about WALKING IN YOUR DESTINY. The powerful sermon admonished the ladies to be truthful in all their dealings so that like Tarmar they can Walk In Their Destiny.

An insightful workshop was presented by Audrey Mutongi, titled CHRISTIAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP. Audrey shared from the attributes of Proverbs 31, where, for a woman it is possible to be a Christian Business Woman. She expanded on how to be a God fearing, hard working, focused woman, with community oriented projects. Other aspects of Audrey's presentation covered about leaning more to develop your personal passionate attributes. This was a well received topic for Christian Women and it was agreed that their is a need for more of such workshops.

A report from the outgoing Committee of Women Ministries in Scotland for 2018, was given by Sr. Joyce Chengeta and Sr. Yvonne Blake. Other members of the committee that served in 2018 were Sr. Lynette Ndadzungira of Dundee and Sr. Bessie Sibanda of Aberdeen. Events of 2018 were highlighted. The climax of the annual events was a retreat at the Heriot Watt University Campus at the Jean Muir Student Village, in Galashiels. This is a beautiful venue which comes highly recommend.

The attendance for the retreat in Galashiels was 72 ladies of which 60 were adults and 12 were youth. The program for the adults was presented by 5 presenters. The theme this weekend was: PREPARING FOR THE HARVEST. The ladies enjoyed singing the theme song which was O WHERE ARE THE REAPERS. The guest speakers from England were Sr. Abigail Mpofu, Sr. Sindi Mabena and Sr. Ruth Mensah. From Scotland a further 2 presenters were Sr. Temitayo Odewusi and Sr. Linda Kanjewe. All participants enjoyed these presentations and thank these ladies for their ministries. A history of Women Ministry in Scotland was given by Pastor Tompkins. Everyone are happy to be part of this history.

The Youth enjoyed their own age relevant programmes led by dedicated Women Ministry Mentors. This was felt as the most successful of the Retreat program. The Youth asked for their own Youth Retreat led by Women Ministry. This request was presented to The President of the Scottish Mission, and it is clear that Pastor Tompkins is a true supporter of Women Ministry in Scotland, which is much appreciated.

NEW WOMEN MINISTRY SPONSOR FOR THE SCOTTISH MISSION.

Mrs Margaret Mukisa was elected as the Women Ministry Sponsor for the next triennium, commencing October 2018. The Women of the church in Scotland, the outgoing Women Ministries committee and the Scottish Mission all welcome Margareth into this open field where with all their support Scotland might be reached in a mighty way.Margareth

In her acceptance speech Margareth accepted the challenge and asked for the unwavering support of the ladies in the mission. She then set up a vibrant vision into her role as leader. Margareth says she wants to see fully supported WM Retreats, Days of Fellowship, various Church led programmes, and TOTAL INVOLVEMENT OF WOMEN from all levels of the church in Women Ministry.

She added that we should pray for her as she acknowledges her weaknesses. But with God, she should be assured we are more than conquerors.

Joyce Chengeta adds: "I would like to take this opportunity like pastor Tompkins said to thank the outgoing committee members for an outstanding job done in such a short space of time. It is nice to note we all suffered challenges in our own way but God's work prevailed. Once more thank you. Special thank you goes to Mrs Carole Peacock for bringing her administrative expertise to help us manage all the hurdles in the planning of events. We all thank pastor Tompkins for all his support".
