A.S.A.P. stands for

Africa Scotland Action Project

This is the Environmental Stewardship Initiative that is new between ADRA UK and the Scottish Mission of Seventh-day Adventists. This endeavour exists to empower and engage the communities in the church in Scotland to be able to do all they can to help looking after the planet. In the Bible, we have a mandate from the book of Genesis, where we read that firstly we were made in God's image (Gen. 1:26, 27), and then that we have a responsibility to look after the beautiful planet God has given us (Gen. 2).

The participating entities in this venture are ADRA-UK, ADRA AFRO region, Scottish Mission.

The Mandate:

• Environmental Stewardship is an integral part of the Creation narrative.

• According to Genesis 2:15, ‘The Lord God put the man in Garden of Eden to take care of it and to look after it’.  Adam’s responsibilities, as manager and worker, were not only one related to environmental stewardship.  His roles were to also worship and obey His Creator.

• 'God places Adam in the garden not only to help the land flourish, but also to maintain a worshipful and obedient relationship with the Lord’. (Israel Bible Centre)

• When we engage in meaningful environment stewardship, we worship and obey the Father and enter into a deeper connection with Him, the God of Creation.

Mobilising Seventh-day Adventist Church entities for sustainable environmental stewardship in response to the 21st century Climate Change Agenda

• 'We are a Christian organization entrusted to be stewards of God’s creation; recognizing climate change is no longer just an environmental issue, but increasingly an ethical problem.’

• ADRA-UK, ADRA AFRO Region and the Scottish Mission are aspiring to collaborate on a year-long  environmental stewardship initiative pilot to strategically, and practically tackle the effects of climate change, while raising awareness of its effects and our responsibility as Christians.

The Concept

• Align the values of the pilot with the strategic objectives of the Seventh-day Adventist Church

• Motto – I will go, I will take action.

• Biblical basis: Isaiah 6:8
