They did it again! This time Scottish Mission Adventurers and Pathfinders travelled all the way to Leeds for the 3rd round of the Adventurer and Pathfinder Bible Experience. It was the toughest round in a series of quiz events so far. The Scottish teams participated alongside teams from the North and South of England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland. More than 100 teams from around the UK and Ireland participated.

And our teams did well! They were enthusiastic and well prepared despite a long bus journey. For our teams from Dundee and Crieff, this year’s Bible Experience was their first experience and they have learned a lot about how to prepare and participate. The Forth Valley district Pathfinders worked against great odds due to unforeseen changes in their leadership in the last few months.

The Aberdeen Adventurer and Pathfinder Teams scored some of the highest marks of all the teams in the tournament. As a result, these two teams have progressed to gain entry to the Trans European Division Pathfinder Bible Experience which will take place in Athens, Greece on 15 April.

All eyes are now turned towards Athens. It is quite a challenge to get fourteen Adventurers and Pathfinders, some adult volunteers, and a few parents to Greece.

A campaign has been launched to provide some funding to reduce the cost to the families who are sending their children. Some families have two children in the contingent. Some funds have been made available by the Church organisation and the local church. There is however a request for individuals to also support the Aberdeen teams as they travel to Greece to represent the Scottish Mission there.

Details of how to contribute are available on this Go-Fund-Me page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/16-aberdeen-youth-go-to-greece-for-tedabe-pbe

In 2023 the focus for the Pathfinder Bible Experience is the Gospel of John. Participants need to study the book in detail, as well as the Seventh-day Adventist Bible Commentary of the book. Reports from everyone who have participated is that it is an unforgettable encounter with Scripture, as well as a wonderful opportunity to travel and experience a bigger world.
