Glasgow Seventh-day Adventist Church celebrated Mother’s Day weekend with style on Sunday 19 March, and in the process, they managed to boost their building fund by more than £700.

“The Sunday Celebration was big and colourful,” reports Pastor Claudiu Popescu. “The church chose to give Mother’s Day an international flavour. This resulted in delicious food, gifts, and interesting games. More than 50 participants gathered for this event celebrating the special status that women occupy in the lives of family, society, and the church.”

Mothers have always played a big part in the activities of Glasgow church, and the event marked the impact that they continued to make, including the role they played in nurturing meaningful relationships within the Glasgow community.

The event which was brilliantly organised by the Glasgow church building committee also had another purpose. The aim was to raise the awareness and collect funds for our future church building. Pastor Claudiu explains that “Since October 2022 Glasgow church embarked on a very intentional journey to actively make the case that our church urgently needs a new building.” Each ministry in the church started to think creatively of ways through which we can fundraise so we could come closer to the rather intimidating goal of £1.9million.”

So far, each working adult church member has been asked to sacrifice £1000.  Every youth has the goal to raise £500. Every Sabbath there is a £1 collection for the children and visitors. The International Mother’s Day event was able to add over £700 to the £6000 already donated by the faithful members of Glasgow church.

Pastor Claudiu says, “We continue the daunting task putting our trust in God’s promise that what is impossible to men is possible with Him.
