On  Sunday the 21st May and 9th July, Hope House Dunfermline SDA church hosted a Health expo event. This was a truly inspirational event that brought together individuals from various walks of life to focus on the integration of faith and wellness. Together, health enthusiasts, professionals, and church members from across the Scottish Mission came together to connect with the local community in Dunfermline to raise awareness about various health conditions affecting a lot of members of our community. We offered practical advice for attendees to become healthier and manage healthier lives.

As people entered the vicinity they were immediately greeted by smiling faces of our designated church members who were eager to share knowledge on nutrition, mental health, and spiritual health. Through the form of literature and meaningful conversations, we intended to promote a holistic approach to health, encompassing physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Throughout the day, various booths offered healthy cooking seminars and free refreshments. A health questionnaire that calculated the current health age and potential health age of attendee’s by using their BMI and various other information, gave a clear idea of where people may need change certain lifestyle patterns to become healthier. The computerised questionnaire offered relevant tips tailored to each individual to help accomplish this.

Our Pathfinders across the Forth-Valley district and Dundee attended and arranged a litter pick up across the Dunfermline high street to provide a cleaner, healthier environment for our community.

Health professionals worked together to highlight the importance of caring for both the body and the soul. As the day unfolded, a sense of unity and friendship filled the air, and attendees left with renewed spirits, equipped with tools to live a healthier, more fulfilling life.

The Provost of Fife, Jim Leishman, attended on both days and showed a great interest in the projects we were encouraging for the community.

Pastor Ratko Risteski, our dedicated health sponsor for the Scottish Mission, was in attendance, supporting our Health Expo team. Alongside him, our cherished church pastor, Pastor Fitzroy Morris, also graced the event with his presence. Their commitment to improving the health and wellness of our community was evident, and their involvement served as a source of inspiration for everyone present.

Following the Health Expo events, a 12-week cooking programme took place, made for beginners and the more advanced. The purpose of this was to empower participants with the knowledge and skills to make wholesome food choices and prepare nutritious meals.

The Health Expo days served a purpose in personal and spiritual enrichment for attendees, improving their well-being.
