On Sunday, the 11th of August 2024, the Glasgow Pathfinder (PF) and Adventurer (AD) clubs fellowshipped at a recreational level as they gathered at Troon Beach for a BBQ fun day. The programme, scheduled weeks in advance, faced the risk of cancellation due to a forecast predicting rain and thunderstorms. But despite the harsh weather prediction, the faithful ADs and PFs, along with the rest of the church, intensely prayed for good weather and God made what seemed impossible possible.
White, fluffy clouds drifted across the clear, blue sky on the bright and sunny day the Pathfinders and Adventurers had been praying for. About 80 people turned up at the fun day organised at the beach by the PF and AD clubs to mark the end of the school holidays. After the opening prayer, the Adventurers engaged in various activities such as water games, swimming and sand castle building. Meanwhile, lunch was being prepared under the supervision of church member Gilbert Vaudein, the chef of the day. The men handled the BBQ grilling while the women set up the tables and organised the mini buffet. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the delicious meal served at lunchtime.
After lunch, the group embarked on an afternoon of fun and enjoyment. Most attendees joined Allan Zukowski and Samuel Matheus, two enthusiastic volunteer missionaries from Brazil who are spending a year in Scotland for service and cultural exchange. The duo entertained the club with a series of lively games, bringing much joy and laughter.
Commenting on the event, Sipho Ncube, the Glasgow Pathfinder Director, highlighted the importance of such initiatives to benefit the children's social and spiritual development. “Our kids are so precious, and I believe that those few hours we spent with them at the beach made them realise we value them. Through such outings, we are not only building strong relationships with them, but are also helping them grow in their faith."
During the church service the day before, although the weather was uncertain, Ogechi Uchechukwu, the prayer ministry leader, concluded the children’s story with a special prayer for good weather. Many children joined in, hoping for a sunny day on Sunday and believing in the possibility of a positive outcome.
God answered the prayers, showcasing His power and leaving the children in awe as they witnessed their faith come to life. Chimzy, 6, an Adventurer, expressed her amazement as they left the beach, saying, “Mum, God is so faithful. We prayed, and He gave us good weather.” This experience taught the children a profound lesson in faithfulness, trust, and perseverance. The event also strengthened the parents' faith. Pathfinder club leader Samu Ncube remarked, “The weather we prayed for was granted—what a Mighty God we serve! My faith has been uplifted.”
A day well spent! The parents and kids could not have been happier. Not only did they enjoy a beautiful day, but they also witnessed another miracle in their lives. Our God is faithful, good, and righteous; He answers prayers. Blessed be His name forever!
