On Saturday, the 21st of September, Glasgow joined the global celebration of the 67th World Pathfinder Day with the theme "Jesus Camps with You." The event featured speaker Allan Zukowski, a volunteer missionary from Brazil, who reminded everyone of Jesus’s constant presence in our lives.

To embody the theme, the Glasgow Church creatively transformed the space with an artificial campfire, camping chairs, a water bottle, and a Bible, along with a tent set up on the baptistery, creating a welcoming camping atmosphere.

After days of rehearsal, the Pathfinders, dressed in colorful uniforms, took charge of a day filled with exciting activities. Highlights included a Bible study discussion on the week’s lesson "Tried and Crucified," inspired by Mark 15:1-15. The Pathfinders also performed a play illustrating the poignant ironies surrounding Jesus's death and their significance in the plan of salvation.

In his inspiring sermon, Allan posed the question, "Why are you a Pathfinder?" Although the answers varied from person to person, it was clear that being part of the Lord’s army, serving God, and helping the upcoming generation uphold God's Law reflects the spirit of the Pathfinders in Glasgow. Allan also explained the importance of the Pathfinder Pledge and Law, stating, "By adhering to the Pathfinder Law, we become better Christians." The Pathfinder Pledge and Law can be found on here

Allan drew parallels between the Israelites' journey in the desert and our lives today, reminding the congregation that, like God camped with Israel, Jesus longs to accompany us on our journey to Heaven. The service included a heartfelt performance of “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” by the Glasgow Pathfinder Choir.

The afternoon featured various activities, including a play where a grandmother shared her Pathfinder memories with her grandson over a cup of tea, encouraging him to stay vigilant for Jesus’s return.

Master Guide Simone Pollard also shared her inspiring journey in the Pathfinder Club, recounting her experiences from Guyana and other countries. Her stories captivated the audience and reinforced the importance of serving God and humanity.

The celebration concluded with a social gathering that included a special cake and plenty of snacks, marking a joyful end to the 2024 World Pathfinder Day at the Glasgow Church. Elder Sipho Ncube, the Glasgow Pathfinder leader, thanked everyone for their attendance and recognised the planning team for creating such a memorable event.
