Seek His Face Always

Seek His Face Always

Catherine Anthony Boldeau

In 2 Chronicles 20, we read of impending doom. The Moabites, Ammonites, and some Meunites plan to go to war against King Jehoshaphat. When he learns about their plans, he is alarmed. But instead of panicking, he encourages his subjects to join him in seeking the Lord.

After recalling the Lord's goodness to his ancestors, he admits that he and the people he serves are helpless against the might of three warring nations. Yet, in this admission of their limitations, they find the strength to trust in God's might, inspiring them to face their challenges with courage.

He says, "…we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you."

Are there times when everything around you seems to be against you?

Do you feel that there are limited positive solutions to increasing current problems?

If so, "seek out the Lord and His strength; seek His face always."

Jehoshaphat turned to God, his source of strength and the "ever-present help in times of trouble." God delivered him from the hands of his enemies without him lifting a finger with a weapon of war.

As faithful stewards, we need to consistently seek the Lord for guidance and His strength, power, and might in all circumstances.
