On October 26, 2024, 13 children from Glasgow Church, alongside eight chaperones, took to the streets and went door-to-door in an evangelism project designed to share the love of Jesus and bring hope to their community. Armed with books and joyful smiles, these junior missionaries engaged with residents, distributing A Journey Guide through Scotland containing Steps to Christ by Ellen White. Within an hour, they had given out nearly 50 copies.

The initiative, a collaboration between the church's Children’s and Personal Ministries departments, was linked to the Children’s Sabbath Day* activities.  “The kids were eager, and even when met with cold responses, they remained confident and enthusiastic,” commented Phelomen Mukangiliye, the local Children’s Ministries leader.

The children experienced a range of reactions from the people they met. Jared, 11, recounted, “Some people were happy and grateful for the book, but others turned us away. It was challenging but exciting – I’d love to do it more often!”

Beavon Sanderson, the local Personal Ministries leader, praised the children's courage. “Witnessing the enthusiasm of our young ones whilst navigating the streets and bravely knocking on doors was heartening…They learned invaluable skills in approaching, greeting, and conversing with others.”

The outreach event concluded the Children’s Sabbath Day activities themed AGAPE: Jesus Loves Me Always, originally celebrated on October 12th. The entire Sabbath service was led by the children with support from their teachers. During the divine service, the children shared their talents with the church community through songs, worship, and preaching, emphasising the importance of love as highlighted in John 13:34-35. Due to poor weather, the outreach event was rescheduled to October 26th.

* In the Adventist Church, Children’s Sabbath serves to recognise and celebrate the spiritual gifts, talents, and contributions of children as active members of the church community.
