A Day of Kindness and Commitment at Inverness Church
Embracing kindness as a way of life, the Inverness Church celebrated a special Sabbath and witnessed Sylvia Momanyi’s commitment to formal membership.
The Inverness Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church celebrated a heart-warming Sabbath on 29 November 2025, centred on the theme "Kindness: A Gift of the Spirit." In a world that can often seem unkind and relentless in cruelty, the special service uplifted the congregation with a thoughtful message and marked a significant spiritual milestone for beloved member Sylvia Momanyi, who publicly affirmed her faith and commitment to the church community.
The day’s sermon, delivered by Pastor Wil Masih, drew inspiration from Galatians 5:22, which highlights kindness as a fruit of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Masih elaborated on the transformative power of kindness, emphasising that it enriches both the recipient and the giver. He encouraged congregants to view kindness not merely as a virtue but as a tangible manifestation of God’s presence, noting that even simple acts of goodwill can reflect the divine in everyday life. He challenged everyone to engage intentionally in acts of kindness toward friends or strangers in the coming weeks.
A moving segment of the service featured church members sharing personal anecdotes of kindness they had witnessed or experienced during the week. These testimonies illustrated the practical impact of kindness, showing how acts of goodwill — big or small — foster hope, goodwill, and a deeper sense of community within and beyond the church walls.
The highlight of the service was the Profession of Faith ceremony for Sylvia Momanyi. For nearly two years, Sylvia has been an active and committed participant in the life of the Inverness SDA Church. She has served wholeheartedly across various ministries, including the music team, Sabbath School teaching, and lay preaching, demonstrating both dedication and spiritual gifts. As a qualified nurse, she is passionate about health and has actively promoted health talks within the church.
On this special Sabbath, Sylvia publicly professed her commitment to following Christ and pledged her support to the local church, officially joining the Inverness Church family. Her journey of faith and service stands as an inspiring testament to dedication and spiritual growth. The congregation expressed immense joy in welcoming Sylvia as an official member, celebrating her decision to deepen her spiritual walk and formalise her belonging to the church.
The day served as a powerful reminder of the church’s mission to embody discipleship and extend God’s love through acts of kindness. It was a beautiful reflection of faith in action, celebrated through both word and deed, and strengthened through fellowship and commitment within the Inverness SDA Church.
