Adventurers and Pathfinders Recognised at Investiture in Aberdeen

Celebrating the achievements of its Adventurers and Pathfinders on 13 December, Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist Church recognised the children’s dedication, growth, and commitment.

Aberdeen Seventh-day Adventist Church recently celebrated the achievements of its Adventurers and Pathfinders during a special investiture Sabbath. The event highlighted the dedication of young people growing spiritually, socially, and practically through Bible learning, service projects, camping, and skills-based activities.

The afternoon was made particularly special by the presence of Paul and Yvonne Kanjewe, the Pathfinder Sponsors for Seventh-day Adventist Churches across Scotland. Their visit underscored the significance of the occasion and the wider network of support surrounding the Adventurer and Pathfinder movement in the country.

This celebration also marked a meaningful continuation of Elder Christopher Khuoge’s ministry with Aberdeen’s children and young people. Elder Khuoge has been journeying alongside the club members throughout the year through an online Bible school he launched after speaking at the Welsh and Scottish Adventurer and Pathfinder Camporee in Wales. His return to Aberdeen for this Sabbath brought a sense of continuity, connecting his broader mentorship and teaching with the personal achievements being recognised that day.

Children from Aberdeen’s Adventurer and Pathfinder clubs entered the church in their uniforms to receive badges, pins, and certificates for the work they had completed over the year. Leaders called each child by name, recognising their effort, progress, and perseverance, while parents and church members responded with smiles, photos, and enthusiastic applause.

A special moment came when Renie Fenton, the assistant club leader, was congratulated on his recent investiture as a Master Guide — the pinnacle achievement in the Pathfinder progression. Having completed his investiture at Newbold College, this Sabbath marked his first time serving in his new role, guiding the next generation of Pathfinders.

The investiture Sabbath underscored that the growth and success of Adventurers and Pathfinders rely on the combined efforts of mentors, supportive families, committed leaders, and teamwork, all working together to nurture faith, discipleship, and a spirit of service across generations.
