Adventist Voice on Moray's Award-Winning Airwaves

Pastor Wilfred Masih's involvement with award-winning community radio station KCR 107.7 FM is creating opportunities for the Seventh-day Adventist Church to engage with communities across Moray and the Highlands through local broadcasting.

What began as an invitation to contribute to a local radio station has developed into a meaningful avenue of community engagement for Pastor Wilfred Masih and the Seventh-day Adventist Church in northern Scotland.

Through Revving Up, his regular programme on KCR 107.7 FM (Keith Community Radio), Pastor Masih has helped establish an Adventist presence on the station while building connections with listeners across Moray and the Highlands.

"KCR has provided an opportunity for the church to be present in a trusted community setting as a friendly, credible, and serving presence across the region," Pastor Masih said.

National Recognition for Local Service

The partnership comes as KCR celebrates receiving The King's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to volunteer groups in the United Kingdom. Often described as the equivalent of an MBE for volunteer organisations, the award recognises exceptional service and positive impact within local communities.

"KCR's success reflects years of dedicated broadcasting, creative programming, and the tireless work of volunteers who give their time, skills, and passion to keep the station running," he said, adding that the station's certificate and crystal emblem, now displayed in the studio, serve as a reminder that small, local acts of service can carry national significance.

KCR also received additional recognition earlier this year when His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, made an informal visit to the station on 26 April 2026.

While visiting Moray to see The Loft Youth Project, the Duke made an unplanned stop at KCR and briefly met members of the station's volunteer team. Although the visit was not part of an official engagement, volunteers welcomed the opportunity to introduce him to the station and its work within the local community.

Pastor Masih said the visit was an encouraging recognition of the role community radio plays in local life.

Local Radio as a Bridge

Pastor Masih said his involvement with the station has created opportunities for the Adventist Church to engage with the wider community through practical service and relationship-building.

"This growing relationship with KCR has become a small but significant expression of what public-facing ministry can look like. The programme is not a sermon, but it is a place where Christian witness, kindness, curiosity, and integrity can be lived out in public. It is a place where relationships grow, trust is built, and the church becomes known not by what it demands, but by how it serves."

He also noted that the initiative reflects the aims of OneVoice27, the global Seventh-day Adventist media evangelism initiative that encourages members to share their faith through media, service and everyday interactions.

According to Pastor Masih, regular involvement with the station has created opportunities to connect with listeners, volunteers and community organisations throughout the region and further afield.

"Many people who may never step into a church are still willing to engage with conversations about life, hope, faith and meaning when those conversations begin in a familiar and trusted setting," he said.

He added that, in that sense, local radio is "not simply a platform" but "a bridge".

Looking Ahead

The latest edition of Revving Up with Wil Masih, broadcast on 1 June 2026, has been made available online through Mixcloud, extending the programme's reach beyond its original broadcast area.

Reflecting on the partnership, Pastor Masih said he was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to KCR's community service and to represent the Adventist Church through the station's work across Moray and the Highlands.

"Through KCR, the Adventist Church has an opportunity to bring hope, encouragement, and a Christ-centred presence into the ordinary rhythm of community life," he said.
