Children Lead Worship and Service Across Scotland on World Adventurer Day
Young Adventurers took centre stage across Scotland on World Adventurer Day 2026, inspiring their congregations through worship leadership, faith-filled messages and community service.
Children and young people took centre stage in Seventh-day Adventist churches across Scotland on Saturday, 16 May 2026, as congregations celebrated World Adventurer Day under the theme, "Walking with Jesus," highlighting the faith, leadership and potential of the Church’s youngest members.
Edinburgh Adventurers Share Lessons on Walking with Jesus
In Edinburgh, Adventurers led the Divine Service, showcasing their talents and spiritual growth through poetry, music, Scripture reading and preaching. The programme opened with a recitation of a poem titled Walking with Jesus, setting the tone for the day’s reflections on faith, obedience and Christian living.
The Bible reading was presented from John 8:12, where Jesus declares: “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The Adventurers then presented a musical item, A Gift to You (Everything I Am), which was warmly received by the congregation.
The sermon, also centred on the theme Walking with Jesus, was jointly delivered by several children. Through Bible stories, personal experiences and creative illustrations, they shared practical lessons on what it means to follow Christ in everyday life. One child described Jesus as “the best friend who loves us even more than our mums and dads,” while another reminded the congregation of Christ's invitation: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Together, they emphasised the importance of prayer, listening to God's Word, trusting Jesus in difficult circumstances, showing kindness to others and caring for those in need.
Church members expressed appreciation for the Adventurers’ confidence, spiritual insight and active participation, making the service both meaningful and memorable.
Dundee Adventurers Put Faith into Action
Meanwhile, in Dundee, excitement for World Adventurer Day began long before church started. For one family, cries of “Come on! Isn’t it time to leave already?” could be heard from their nine-year-old almost half an hour before their usual departure time. Dressed smartly in a brand-new uniform, complete with badges and sash, he could not wait to take part in his first World Adventurer Day.
Perhaps his fellow Adventurers had a similar start to the day, as the whole cohort arrived bright and early, ready for their opportunity to minister.
A hush fell over the congregation as the children marched into church, even the youngest keeping perfectly in step to the entrance song. Supported by club staff, they led the entire service with confidence and enthusiasm. Whether offering prayers and Scripture readings or presenting special items, the Dundee Adventurer Club demonstrated that a powerful witness can come “out of the mouth of babes” (Psalm 8:2).
Several of the children presented sermonettes on the theme Walking with Jesus, reminding the congregation that God wants to be our friend, that faith grows over time, and that no one is too young to be used by Him to bring light to others.
The ministry continued beyond the church service. After lunch, the Adventurers put their lessons into practice by serving the community through litter-picking—an activity one participant later described as their favourite part of the day.

They also visited a church member who was unwell, singing and praying with them. It was a blessing to see the children directing their youthful energy towards acts of service and kindness, prompting appreciation from church members for the dedication of the children, their leaders and parents, whose willing ministry blessed congregations and communities alike.
World Adventurer Day takes place every third Sabbath of May. The Adventurer Club welcomes children aged 4 to 9 and is open to both church members and non-members alike.Young Adventurers took centre stage across Scotland on World Adventurer Day 2026, inspiring their congregations through worship leadership, faith-filled messages and community service.
