Dundee Church Celebrates Pathfinder and Adventurer Achievements

Recognising the dedication and accomplishments of its young members, Dundee Church held a joyful investiture ceremony on December 6.

On December 6, Dundee Seventh-day Adventist Church celebrated the accomplishments of a dedicated group of Pathfinders and Adventurers in a heartfelt and unpretentious investiture ceremony. The occasion was graced by Scottish Mission dignitaries, including the Scottish Mission President, Jimmy Botha, Pathfinder and Adventurer Sponsors Paul and Yvonne Kanjewe, and Mthokozisi Ndlovu. Several of the older Pathfinders played a key role in planning and presenting the programme, fostering a spirit of ownership and teamwork.

To accommodate both the investiture and the communion service, Sabbath School was shortened for the day. From the moment the children marched into the sanctuary, the atmosphere was filled with delight. Their excitement was clearly shared by their parents and the congregation. The children had prepared diligently for the special day, and there was no sign of nervousness — only bright smiles and joyful anticipation. The investiture was not merely about awards and honours but about celebrating shared values and the ways the community supports and uplifts one another. The service became even more meaningful as it culminated in a communion ceremony.

One standout moment of the event was the Bible Sword Drill and the recitation of Bible verses. The sanctuary echoed with energy as friendly competition brought enthusiasm to the activity. Each verse mastered felt like a small victory, and the race to find the correct reference ended with proud smiles and encouraging cheers from friends and family. The combination of focus and fun was a powerful reminder that learning Scripture can be both engaging and joyful.

Although the group was small, the sense of family was strong and deeply felt. One Pathfinder shared, “I enjoyed the ceremony, and it made me feel included,” while another said, “I am happy that I graduated... I am also happy for my friend who was invested.” Many felt encouraged and proud of their achievements, with some particularly enjoying the marching and the chance to participate in the praise team during the communion service.

Overall, the ceremony inspired a deep sense of belonging, shared ownership, and joyful collaboration. Through meaningful participation, each Pathfinder and Adventurer was affirmed as a valued member of God’s family and of the Dundee club — united in purpose, faith, and service.
