Elgin Group Explores God’s Blueprint for Family Life
A special Family Ministries day at Elgin SDA Church, led by Oyetola and Temitayo Odewusi, offered biblical guidance and practical tools for nurturing strong, faith-based family relationships.
The Elgin Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church warmly welcomed a special visit from the Scottish Mission Family Ministries Sponsors, Oyetola and Temitayo Odewusi, on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The couple led the congregation through a spiritually enriching day focused on family relationships, offering a balance of biblical insight and practical guidance.

A key highlight of the visit was the morning sermon, titled “Divine Design for Family Relationships”. Drawing from Ephesians 5:22–6:1, the Odewusis underscored the foundational principles of love, respect, and mutual submission within all types of family structures. They effectively contextualised Scripture to speak to the diverse realities of contemporary families, reminding the congregation that regardless of context, love must be the guiding principle.
In his message, Oyetola Odewusi stressed that God’s blueprint for family life is rooted in authentic love and mutual respect—a timeless truth essential for nurturing strong, healthy relationships.
The church was filled with members of all ages, all eager to reflect on this vital and timely topic. Following the worship service, the congregation shared a joyful Sabbath fellowship lunch, deepening community bonds over warm conversation.
The day continued with an interactive afternoon session that built on the theme of family life in a changing world. Initially held in the church, the discussion later moved to the Biblical Garden Park in Elgin town centre, where the sunny outdoor setting offered a relaxed space for open and meaningful dialogue.

In this inclusive environment, groups representing youths, women, and men shared their perspectives on the real-life challenges of living out God’s love in today's diverse family contexts. Common themes included struggles with communication, societal pressure, and the urgent need for intentional biblical nurturing.
Church members also offered valuable suggestions for strengthening relationships and discussed practical steps for applying biblical principles in daily life. Among the recommendations were the development of support groups within the church, more family-oriented events, and regular follow-up visits from the Odewusis and other ministry leaders.
Temitayo Odewusi closed the day by affirming the importance of ongoing conversations and the need for the church to walk alongside families as they grow and thrive in Christ.
The visit concluded with a sense of hope and renewed commitment among church members. Leaders of the Elgin SDA Church expressed their gratitude for the Odewusis’ visit and look forward to future collaborations aimed at enriching family life and spiritual development within the congregation.
