Faith and Conviction at the Heart of Glasgow Day of Fellowship

The event brought together all generations for a day of worship, drama, and reflection, encouraging believers to stand firm in their faith and uphold God’s values.

The Glasgow Day of Fellowship was held on 28 June 2025 at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall under the theme “Stand Your Ground”, highlighting the importance of upholding God's values amid life’s challenges. The event featured a dynamic programme that included a multi-generational play, a promotional video showcasing the church’s activities, and musical performances.

The morning began with a poignant drama linking contemporary struggles with the biblical story of Daniel’s friends in the fiery furnace. Written and directed by Allan Zukowski and Blandine Damtse, the play followed two siblings navigating peer pressure and temptations. Their grandmother encourages them to stand firm in their faith, illustrating her advice with the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

A second cast of over 20 performers brought the Bible story to life, culminating in a visually impactful video montage of the friends in the flames. The Glasgow Adventist Melodies, a teen choir, closed the performance with a stirring rendition of “When You Believe”, leaving the audience deeply moved by the creativity, humour, and powerful message.

The divine service featured spirited praise and worship by the Glasgow Adventist Gospel Choir, followed by guest speaker Pastor Steve McKenzie’s engaging sermon. Drawing from Ephesians 6, he focused on spiritual warfare and the importance of wearing the “armour of God.” Through stories of Daniel’s friends, David and Goliath, and Elijah at Mount Carmel, he reminded listeners to trust in God, stand firm in faith, and boldly share the Gospel.

Pastor McKenzie also offered a children’s story about obedience and the role of parents as patient teachers. His message, along with the drama, resonated deeply with the congregation, prompting reflection and inspiration.

One of the teenagers who participated in the play shared, “The day was so inspiring. More than ever, I will stand for my convictions—stand for Jesus.” Meanwhile, a church elder who portrayed the grandmother delivered a remarkable performance despite recent personal loss and health challenges, describing the experience as “a lifetime experience.”

Pastor McKenzie paid a special tribute to the praise and worship team for their “outstanding performance” and expressed appreciation for the involvement of children and youth in the play. Reflecting on the day, Glasgow Church Pastor Claudiu Popescu noted that the theme “Stand Your Ground,” powerfully conveyed through both the play and the sermon, served as a compelling reminder that upholding God’s values is a sacred mission.

Now in its second edition, the Glasgow Day of Fellowship offered a meaningful opportunity for all ages to reflect on the strength and authenticity of their faith.
