Glasgow Church Concludes 2025 With Thanksgiving Service

A Thanksgiving Service at Glasgow Church brought 2025 to a reflective close.

The Glasgow Seventh-day Adventist Church brought 2025 to a meaningful close with a special Thanksgiving Service held on 27 December. Organised by Prayer Ministry leaders Ogechi Uchechukwu-Nwosu and Adina Lupu, the service invited members and visitors to reflect on God’s faithfulness and express gratitude through worship, testimonies and praise.

Local pastor Claudiu Popescu delivered a message based on Romans 1:21, highlighting that acknowledging God without glorifying or thanking Him can lead to empty thinking and hardened hearts. He emphasised that thanksgiving is a daily spiritual discipline, expressed through worship, service, forgiveness, sharing the gospel and faithful giving, in recognition that all blessings come from God. Referencing Philippians 1:12, he encouraged members to remain thankful in all circumstances, including times of difficulty. Using the Apostle Paul’s experience as an example, Pastor Popescu explained that challenges can advance God’s purposes when met with faith and gratitude. He concluded by describing thanksgiving as “the hallmark of a growing, giving and glowing Christian”.

The service also featured testimonies from individuals and church departments, reflecting on God’s work during the year. The Prayer Ministry Department expressed gratitude for daily 8pm prayer meetings that helped sustain unity and spiritual strength among members. The Pathfinder Club shared how favourable weather during their camping trip allowed activities to proceed safely, while the Glasgow Adventist Gospel Choir thanked God for a year of outreach, concerts and ministry across the city. Several members also testified to experiences of healing, provision and answered prayer.

The programme coincided with the church’s 13th Sabbath celebration and included a graduation ceremony for Children’s Ministry Sabbath School classes, highlighting the church’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young disciples and supporting families.

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Ogechi Uchechukwu-Nwosu said, “By counting our blessings from January to December, we acknowledge God’s guidance and protection and express our trust in Him to lead us into the New Year.”

The service concluded with a spirit of gratitude as the congregation looked back on God’s faithfulness in 2025 and committed to entering 2026 with renewed trust, praise and thanksgiving.
