Inverness and Elgin Churches Celebrate the Baptism of a Young Person

On 25th January 2025, the Inverness and Elgin Seventh-day Adventist Churches gathered at Abernethy Christian Centre to witness the baptism of Jonathan Marira, a significant moment highlighting his commitment to Christ and the ongoing spiritual development of young people in Scotland.

On Saturday, 25th January 2025, members of the Inverness and Elgin Seventh-day Adventist Churches gathered at the Abernethy Christian Centre, nestled in the scenic Cairngorms National Park, to witness the baptism of a young member from the district.

Jonathan Marira, who grew up in an Adventist household and has attended church since childhood, chose to publicly commit his life to Christ, a decision that was joyfully celebrated by the church community.

Leading the service, Pastor Wilfred Masih highlighted both the beauty and the challenges of living a life for Christ. While the journey of faith is not always easy, he reminded the congregation that with Christ, every challenge can be faced with strength and perseverance.

The service featured hymns and provided an opportunity for those in attendance to reflect on their own spiritual journey. Jonathan, eager to serve at the Inverness Church, took his baptismal vows, symbolising the ongoing spiritual development of young people in Scotland.

A memorable moment of the ceremony occurred when Jonathan’s father was invited to join him in the baptismal pool, standing alongside his son in a powerful show of familial support.

The service concluded with Jonathan being warmly welcomed as the newest member of the Inverness Seventh-day Adventist Church, reaffirming the church's focus on fostering the spiritual growth of young people and ensuring their active participation in the community.
