Inverness Church Hosts Festive Christmas Carols Service for the Community

Welcoming residents and visitors to Eden Court, the Inverness Seventh-day Adventist Group hosted a Christmas Carols service, using music to share the joy and meaning of the season with the community.

For many, singing carols is a cherished Christmas tradition, blending familiar tunes with lyrics that proclaim the wonder of Christ’s incarnation. In Inverness, the joy of Christmas was brought to life on Saturday, 20 December, at Eden Court, the largest conference venue in the North of Scotland, as residents and visitors joined a Christmas Carols service, sharing in the music and reflecting on the spiritual heart of the holiday.

The day began with a reflective church service led by Pr Wil Masih, inviting the congregation to pause and consider the deeper significance of Christmas. Following fellowship and lunch, the atmosphere shifted to anticipation as the community assembled in Eden Court’s Maclean Room for the afternoon carols.

The musical programme featured both local artists and artists with a wide-reaching reputation. Members of the Eden Court Choir and the Inverness Seventh-day Adventist singing group filled the room with melodious harmonies, complemented by skilled bassist Bradley Bailey. Solo performances brought added brilliance, with Trevor James Mair captivating with Southern Gospel and Tony Henry—a vocalist with an internationally recognised career—bringing a rich, masterful voice.

The event’s inclusive nature drew in passers-by from the Eden Court cinema and theatre, as well as visitors from other local churches, adding to the sense of togetherness and seasonal celebration. Children were particularly captivated, their eyes wide with wonder as they swayed to the music and joined in singing. When invited to the front to sing ‘Away in a Manger’, their participation emphasised the special charm of Christmas carols and created a multi-generational experience, uniting church members and the public alike.

“The Christmas Carols service reflects our commitment to sharing the gospel through music and engaging with the community,” said Pr Wil Masih, who hosted the service and also contributed musically. He added that the Inverness Seventh-day Adventist group is focused on building positive connections, highlighting its growing presence, credibility, and influence in the local community.
