Inverness Youth Lead Service Focused on “Living as a Light in a Dark World”
Highlighting the strength of its younger members, Inverness Church hosted an inspiring Youth Day centred on the theme “Living as a Light in a Dark World.”
The Inverness Seventh-day Adventist Church was filled with an infectious spirit of enthusiasm and devotion on Saturday, 15 November 2025, as its young people led an inspiring Youth Day service under the theme “Living as a Light in a Dark World.” The programme showcased the spiritual depth and leadership potential of the church’s younger generation, leaving members and visitors uplifted, including guests from the United States and Thurso.
The day began with an interactive Bible study session organised and led entirely by the youth. Their careful preparation was evident as they guided the congregation through a thoughtful exploration of Scripture, drawing out insights connected to the day’s theme. Participants of all ages joined in lively discussion, reflecting on what it means to embody Christ’s light in today’s complex world. The young facilitators created a dynamic, supportive environment for spiritual growth, demonstrating maturity that resonated across the congregation.
The atmosphere of praise continued during the worship service, also directed by the youth. The worship team led the church in a moving selection of hymns and contemporary songs. Their performances transformed the sanctuary into a space of praise and reflection. The congregation was visibly moved as the young voices blended in a harmonious expression of faith, showcasing unity and devotion.
The highlight of the programme was the sermon delivered by Stanford Chivige. With engaging delivery and strong theological grounding, he presented a message that particularly spoke to the youth while offering encouragement to all present. Expounding on the theme “Living as a Light in a Dark World,” he emphasised the need for courage and resilience in upholding one’s faith. Chivige acknowledged the challenges of standing firm in one’s convictions amid a world that can appear indifferent — or even hostile — to spiritual values.
Drawing from biblical narratives and contemporary examples, he stressed that faith is not only a belief but an active commitment requiring consistency and moral courage. He reminded listeners that being a light involves not only grand gestures but daily choices that reflect God’s love and truth. His message served as a clear call to action, encouraging members to live as beacons of hope and integrity.
The day's programme was a compelling demonstration of faith in action and a testament to the strength of youthful leadership within the congregation. The event affirmed that the church’s future is bright, guided by young people devoted to living out their faith.
For many, the day reinforced the sense of belonging within the church community. Jonathan, a recently baptised member, said he felt “blessed to be part of this warm and friendly church family.” Sylvia, a dedicated young nurse who travels three hours by train almost every week, shared that she “has been blessed to be a part of the church and looks forward to the worship and fellowship every Saturday.”

Local pastor Wil Masih praised the enthusiasm of the younger members and encouraged all youth —especially those recently baptised — to take an active role in church life. He noted that God has blessed the congregation with committed young people who are eager to serve, grow and enrich their discipleship journey.
