Over Ninety Youth and Leaders Inducted into Adventist Club Ministries in Glasgow

Responding to God’s call to service, over ninety youth and leaders committed themselves to Adventist club ministries in Glasgow.

Thirty Adventurers, 28 Pathfinders, 26 officers, and 10 Junior Counsellors dedicated themselves to the principles, discipline, and spiritual purpose of club ministries during an induction ceremony held at Glasgow Church on 24 January. More than a formal Adventist Youth (AY) programme, the service marked a significant spiritual milestone, inspiring attendees to move from ceremony to commitment and from identity to mission in Christ.

Immaculately dressed in their club uniforms, Pathfinders, Adventurers, and officers marched in with confidence and grace, reflecting the discipline and excellence promoted within the AY ministry. The procession was followed by a Junior Counsellors’ exhibition drill, which drew warm admiration and enthusiastic applause from the congregation. The programme continued with the preliminaries and the traditional induction service, marked by candle lighting and prayers of consecration.

The occasion underscored the church’s ongoing commitment, through the AY Department, to nurturing children and young people towards intentional, Christ-centred living. A key highlight this year was the launch of the Ambassador Club for young people aged 16 to 21 — an important initiative designed to retain youth within the club system and provide continued opportunities for spiritual growth, learning, and leadership development beyond the Pathfinder curriculum.

The spiritual emphasis of the day was reinforced by the guest speaker, Zodwa Mloyi from Breath of Life Seventh-day Adventist Church in Smethwick, who delivered a compelling message entitled “Going on Purpose.” She reminded the inductees that the club uniform symbolises more than membership; it represents belonging to the army of Heaven. As young people respond to God’s call to service, she emphasised the importance of living distinctively, guided by faith, obedience, and a clear sense of purpose.

Drawing from 1 Timothy 4:12–15, Mloyi challenged the youth to live intentionally rather than by default. Using the illustration of boarding a train without knowing its destination, she described a purposeless life as one of spiritual drifting — reacting to culture instead of standing firmly on biblical truth. She urged them to be examples in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity; to devote themselves to Scripture; and to faithfully develop the spiritual gifts God has entrusted to them, so that their growth would be evident to all.

She further emphasised how these principles are embodied in the Pathfinder Law, reinforcing the strong biblical foundation of the AY club ministries. Referring to Joel 2:28, she encouraged children and young people not to be limited by their age but to step forward confidently in response to God’s calling.

The message concluded with a clear call to action: go on purpose. The inductees were challenged to move from spiritual drifting to intentional discipleship, living deliberately with every choice aligned to their faith, mission, and identity in Christ. Above all, they were reminded to remain firmly rooted in Scripture, understanding that “true purpose flows from God’s Word and not from worldly vision.”
