Paisley Church Celebrates Its Members' Rich Cultural Heritage
Paisley Seventh-day Adventist Church, known for its diverse and multicultural congregation, recently hosted a vibrant celebration of West African culture, showcasing the rich heritage of the region through music, art, fashion, and cuisine. The event, which took place as part of the church's initiative to honour the cultural diversity of its members, brought together nearly 20 West African worshippers to share their traditions and customs with the community.
A couple of highlights from the event include a special musical performance by a Seventh-day Adventist Choir from Nigeria, and a soul-stirring song sung in the Igbo language, accompanied by the talented 11-year-old pianist Ikenna Chinekezi also from Nigeria.
As the service drew to a close, a heartfelt prayer was offered in the Yoruba language, further emphasising the cultural richness and diversity of the West African worshippers. The day concluded with a potluck featuring a delectable array of West African dishes, allowing attendees to indulge in the flavours and aromas of the region.
