Rapidly Growing Scottish Borders Church Group Celebrates Adventurer and Pathfinder Induction

The induction of young Adventurers and Pathfinders in the Scottish Borders signalled the steady growth of a new church group and the strengthening of its youth ministry.

The recent Teries Adventurer and Pathfinder Induction Ceremony has been described as “a powerful testament to growth, commitment, and the unwavering mission of spreading the Gospel,” marking a significant moment for a relatively new and rapidly growing group in the Scottish Borders.

Held in an atmosphere of joy and gratitude, the event celebrated not only the induction of young members into the Adventurer and Pathfinder programmes, but also the strong sense of unity and shared purpose that continues to shape the group’s identity.

The induction highlighted young Adventurers and Pathfinders stepping forward in faith, publicly committing to their roles as ambassadors of Christ. Their enthusiasm and dedication were widely recognised, with many observing that their example “signals a promising future grounded in strong spiritual values.”

Delegates from across the region—including representatives from the Conference, Mission, the mother church in Edinburgh, and congregations as far as Glasgow—were in attendance. Their presence was warmly appreciated, with organisers noting that their “guidance, leadership, and encouragement continue to shape the lives of young people and strengthen the foundation of the church’s work.”

Special recognition was also given to the Scottish Mission sponsors of the Pathfinder and Adventurer clubs, Paul and Yvonne Kanjewe. Their contribution was acknowledged as instrumental, with organisers stating that their “dedication, support, and encouragement made this ceremony not only possible, but truly memorable,” reflecting “a shared vision for nurturing the next generation in faith, discipline, and service.”

A highlight of the programme was the sermon delivered by Pastor Njabulo Ndlovu, Director of Youth Ministries at the British Union Conference. His message encouraged both young people and adults to remain spiritually grounded, reminding attendees to “always seek God’s instruction and not rely on your own intuition or abilities.”

Further appreciation was extended to Pastor Fitzroy Morris and the mother church in Edinburgh for their ongoing support. Their encouragement and prayers were recognised as a source of inspiration, as the group continues to grow and establish itself.

Organisers emphasised that the induction ceremony represents more than a single event. It stands as “a clear indication of the steady growth and expansion of the Scottish Mission,” as increasing numbers of young people commit themselves to a life of faith and service.

As the church group looks ahead, members are encouraged to remain united in purpose, steadfast in faith, and committed to their shared mission. The ceremony serves as both a celebration of progress and a reflection of the church’s confidence in God’s ongoing work through the Scottish Mission.
