Scottish Mission President’s End-of-Year Reflection

Reflecting on the year gone by, Scottish Mission President Pastor Jimmy Botha offers a message of thanksgiving, encouragement, and inspiration for the year ahead.

As we come to the close of 2025, I invite us to pause and recognise the faithfulness of God that has guided our Mission throughout the year. What has defined us is not merely the activity of our programmes, but the spirit in which our churches have lived out our shared vision: Gratefully Received, Abundantly Shared.

Across Scotland, our congregations have continued to serve as havens of support — welcoming newcomers, celebrating life’s joys, standing together through seasons of sorrow and loss, and nurturing one another through all stages of life. Amid growing social fragmentation, our churches have upheld their role as places of stability, compassion, belonging, and learning.

This ethos of service and support is also reflected in the partnerships we maintain beyond our congregations. Collaborations with organisations such as Beatson Cancer Charity, Christians Against Poverty, local councils, and fellow Christian groups have enabled us to serve more widely and address the practical needs of our communities.

The Scottish Mission’s greatest asset remains its people. The commitment shown by our staff and volunteers — offered quietly, consistently, and with grace — forms the foundation of our work. Your dedication underpins everything we do, and for this I am profoundly grateful.

As we enter the Christmas season and look toward 2026, may we continue to live out the love of Christ in all we do. May our actions reflect His compassion and grace, guiding us to be a source of hope, encouragement, and belonging for all those we encounter. May the blessings we have gratefully received continue to be abundantly shared.

On behalf of the Scottish Mission Office, I wish you a blessed festive season and God’s favour in the year ahead.

Yours faithfully,

Pastor Jimmy Botha

Scottish Mission President
