Two Young Brothers Baptised in Inverness

Young brothers from Inverness took an important step in their faith as members of the Inverness, Elgin, and Strathdon district churches gathered at the Abernethy Christian Centre to witness their baptism.

In an atmosphere of anticipation and worship, the district churches of Inverness, Elgin, and Strathdon gathered on 16 August at the Abernethy Christian Centre to witness the baptism of two young brothers, Izyan and Zhyran Scarlet.

This was a celebration of spiritual commitment, family love, and the quiet yet unmistakable work of God in the hearts of the next generation. For these brothers, the day marked a milestone in their faith journey, a moment they will carry with them for the rest of their lives.

The family, who was beaming with pride and gratitude, stood alongside them, overwhelmed by the significance of the occasion. “We’re just so thankful,” said the proud father of the boys, “to see them make this decision together, we are so grateful to God.” Their joy was shared by the entire congregation, who gathered in prayer and praise, celebrating the transformative power of the gospel.

The service was led by Pr Wil Masih, who has been mentoring the brothers over recent months. His message, The Meaning and Significance of Baptism, spoke not only to the moment at hand but to the broader calling of Christian life. Drawing from Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River, he reminded all present that this step is by no means an ending, but the beginning of a new chapter of ministry.

“Baptism is where the journey truly begins,” he continued, “Just as Christ’s baptism marked the start of His ministry, so too this day marks the start of something new in these young lives, something bold, something beautiful.”

The two young men were officially welcomed into the membership of the Inverness Church, a gesture that acknowledged both their personal decision and their place within a larger spiritual family. The congregation responded with applause and embraces, and many words of encouragement. Many were moved by the courage and clarity the brothers had shown in making such a public declaration of faith at a young age.

Reflecting on the significance of the day, Pr Wil Masih commented: “There’s something extraordinary happening in the Highlands. This year alone, we’ve seen a number of young people choose Christ and take this life-changing step. That’s not something we see every day. But God is clearly on the move.”

Indeed, this special service was a sacred marker in the lives of two young disciples, a celebration of their journey so far and a prayer for what lies ahead. In a time when a journey of faith of can feel difficult and disheartening, this day stood as a vibrant reminder: God is still speaking, still calling, and still transforming lives.

As the congregations departed from Abernethy, their hearts were stirred not just by what they had seen, but by the sense that they were part of something larger, a growing movement of unity, mission, and spiritual renewal across the district. And for the two brothers and their family, this day will remain etched in memory as a meaningful beginning, a shared milestone, and a moment of joy that will echo for years to come.
