Two Young People Baptised in Inverness
The Inverness Church’s celebration of Ishmael and Ashley Mukupa’s baptism not only reflected the growing engagement of youth, but also inspired a renewed sense of commitment across the entire district.
On 31 May 2025, the Inverness Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church celebrated the baptism of siblings Ishmael and Ashley Mukupa at the Abernethy Christian Centre in Nethy Bridge. The occasion brought together family, friends, and members from across the district, marking a meaningful moment of shared support as the two young people took this significant step in their faith journey.
Pastor Wil Masih shared a message from Matthew 14, using Peter’s experience of walking on water as a metaphor for the journey of faith following baptism. He highlighted the importance of maintaining focus on Christ, observing that while life’s challenges may cause believers to stumble, Christ remains ever present—ready to restore and guide them back on course.
The message appeared to resonate with many in attendance, especially the youth. During the altar call, two other young attendees came forward, expressing their desire to be baptised at the next baptismal service.
Following the ceremony, several members from the district shared their personal experiences of life after baptism, offering encouragement to the newly baptised.
The Inverness SDA Church and the wider district continue to support youth engagement and spiritual growth, with events like this reflecting ongoing efforts to foster a strong and connected church community.
Speaking on the significance of baptism, Pr Masih shared: "Baptism is not the end of a journey but the beginning of a lifelong walk with Christ. Through every storm, distraction, or challenge, we can be confident in the One who calls us out on the water—who never lets us sink but lifts us up with love and grace so we can continue on the journey that He started us on."
