Newly Elected Scottish Mission Leadership Meet to Discuss Future Plans
Following the election of new departmental leaders in June, the Scottish Mission leadership team convened last Sunday to discuss the organisation’s future direction and plans for the coming year. This meeting marked the start of a new phase for the Mission, highlighting a strategic focus on collaboration and effective resource allocation.
Over the past two years, the Scottish Mission has partnered with Table Group consultant Holly Hughson to build trust, enhance organisational cohesion, clarify strategic goals, and strengthen leadership effectiveness. This collaboration has been instrumental in transforming the Mission’s operations, fostering trust and encouraging critical reflection. Building on this foundation, the Scottish Mission has embraced a new strategic framework titled 'Gratefully Received, Abundantly Shared.' Informed by member surveys conducted earlier in the year, this framework is centred on three core values – Community (Compassion), Diversity (Inclusiveness), and Love (Duty). Each core value serves as an 'anchor,' guiding decision-making and ensuring a cohesive approach to mission objectives at both departmental and local church levels.
The guiding question of this strategic framework is “How will we succeed?” and aims to keep leaders focused on core priorities, leveraging existing resources, and maintaining a collaborative outlook. As part of this strategy, sponsors and pastors were encouraged to implement these strategic values in a way that meaningfully integrates various ministries and outreach activities.
The leadership team, representing the local churches and the Scottish Mission’s nine active departments – Communications, Family Ministries, Health Ministries, Men’s Ministries, Discipleship & Evangelism, Prayer Ministries, Public Campus Ministries, Women’s Ministries, and Youth Ministries – agreed on the importance of collaboration as a primary focus. By working closely together, departments aim to maximise the effectiveness of their funding and resources, ensuring their efforts reach their full potential.
With a vibrant team of leaders and actively engaged church members, our churches in Scotland are well-positioned to make a meaningful difference. Scottish Mission leadership is optimistic about the future as they invest in empowering local church leaders and fostering a supportive community that embodies the Mission’s core values.
