Easter Greeting from the President of the Scottish Mission
Dear Church Family in Scotland
I pray that you are well and that you know God is with us when you read this message.
This is a time when children are at home for the Easter break for many households, and you are preparing for what your church is planning to do this Sabbath. I want to remind us of the Gift we have received in Jesus, the reason Christians celebrate Easter all over the world.
As we enjoy the Easter weekend together, I want to remind you of the great love Jesus Christ demonstrated for us when He sacrificed Himself on the cross. Through His resurrection, we are assured of eternal life and the forgiveness of our sins. Let us take this opportunity to reflect on our faith and renew our commitment to follow in His footsteps.
As we slow down for this weekend in particular, I'd like to cast your mind forward a few weeks and tell you about a significant undertaking that, as far as I am aware, has not been done in Scotland before.
On the weekend of 12-14 May, Dr Anthony Kent from the Ministerial Association at the General Conference will conduct evangelistic meetings in the Aberdeen Church. From 18-21 May, he will be conducting meetings in Lerwick, Shetland, and from 25-27 May, he will be in Inverness. These meetings are supported by our pastoral team in the Scottish Mission, who will join Dr Kent on bicycles, cycling the roads of Shetland and Inverness, to attract attention.
You will have started to see some indication of this in the newsletter and other outlets. I bring this to you in my message before the Easter weekend because I want to ask for your prayers. Not only prayers now for what we are about to experience this weekend in our various churches but prayer and ongoing prayer for what is planned for outreach in May.
Please also look at the prayer sessions planned for the forthcoming weeks as we approach this time. The SM Prayer Ministry's Co-Sponsors, Beverley Anderson and Adina Lupu, are working hard at putting together prayer partners who can help solicit the presence of the Holy Spirit in the lives of those searching for God. I enourage you to join us in prayer.
So, as you contemplate the goodness of God, and the gift of Jesus, when we reflect on our lives and think about what Jesus has done for us, let us think of how others who do not yet know Him can benefit from being introduced to Him, in the many ways that can happen.
May this Easter bring you renewed hope, joy, and peace. Let us come together as a community to celebrate and give thanks for the love and grace of our Lord.
Whatever you will be doing this Easter weekend, I wish you a very blessed time.
